Fume hood is an important part of laboratory construction. In the modern laboratory environment, good ventilation is important for a clean laboratory environment and ensuring the scientificity of experimental conditions; therefore, when using the fume hood correctly, pay attention to the following points:
1. When the fume hood is in use, make up the air for 10 minutes every 2 hours; if the fume hood is used for more than 5 hours, open the windows and be careful not to allow negative pressure in the room.
2. The laboratory should be ventilated from time to time when not in use, which is beneficial to the health of the experimenters.
3. When two or more fume hoods use one fan together, in order to avoid operational errors or improper operation, the “ on, ”, “ off ” of the fan can only be controlled by one operator.
4. When the fume hood is in use, it is prohibited to interfere with the countercurrent wind direction caused by people moving around.
5. The indoor air temperature is between -5℃ and +40℃, and the 24-hour average is no more than +25℃.
6. It is prohibited to conduct experimental courses in the cabinet when it is not opened.
7. It is prohibited to reach into the cabinet to operate or view during experiments.
8. It is prohibited to store or experiment with flammable and explosive items.
9. It is prohibited to place mobile power strips or wires in the fume hood.
10. When moving the upper and lower windows, do it slowly and gently to avoid the door handle from crushing your hand.
11. During the experiment, it is advisable to keep the window 100-150mm away from the table.
12. If there is a problem with the startup or if you hear an incorrect sound from the fan, you must stop operating and have professional maintenance personnel repair it. Do not disassemble and repair by yourself.
13. When the operator is not using the fume hood, too many test equipment or chemical substances cannot be stored on the countertop, and long-term stacking is prohibited.
14. If there is poor ventilation, please contact the relevant personnel in time.
